Black Harvest
... manuscript in progress

I have been working on my novel, Black Harvest for about 12 years and every year I take it out and edit the crap out of it. This year I feel it is ready for publication and ensuing fame and fortune. Humour aside, I got a brilliant idea from my son Robert. Since a few of my characters include mythic icons like King Arthur and Merlin, he suggested I write a blog about the research I've done, then discuss how I have incorporated that research into my novel.
Short Synopsis of Black Harvest
Humans are faced with difficult choices every day. They choose between life and death, love and hate, good and evil. Yet their choices are no different than those made by elfies, mythological kings, magicians, and demons of the dark.
In 19th century Ireland, after her father’s brutal death, Megan learns her mother is an elfie with an ancient connection to King Arthur. Married to a wastrel, she suffers to keep two dark secrets. One will change the fate of her beloved Irish village and the other the fate of the man she loves.
In modern-day Vancouver, Canada, Kate lives a dreary life. Parted from an abusive husband, her only solace is an old, oak rocking chair. Suddenly it transports her to medieval Glastonbury, England into the mind and body of a powerful Druidess. Her role is formidable: to help her family thwart their monstrous enemies. Then she must hide herself – as Kate – in the twentieth century.
An odd thread connects the land of magic to Megan and Kate: an old widow who sits in a rocking chair and waits. Unwittingly, she’d unleashed an evil so deadly the seams of the past, present and future could be ripped apart. One fateful, foolish choice and history is – history.
